When Microsoft released Excel in 1985, the world was quick to accept spreadsheets as the gold standard of data management tools. People embraced spreadsheets with open arms, and why wouldn’t they? Spreadsheets were cheap, easy to use, and they did an excellent job of containing static, plain-text data.
